Dol Guldur Project 2

Painting

I used this weekend to finally start painting my DG Nazgul. I started with one slayer of men:
First with base and shading


Second with with the layer details





I also started the Witch-King with base and shade






I am quite pleased with the results - especially with the green robes =)

I am still experimenting my lighting setup for taking miniature shots. Suggestions how to improve are welcome ;)

Ordering the last piece

I thought of ordering the Castellans of Dol Guldur from GW directly since i thought the price tag of 20 € is ok and it now contains three instead of two miniatures. However this meant i was exactly 5 € to low for having free delivery. 
Delivery costs for Austria are 9 € - meaning a third of the costs would have been just shipping, which really did feel wrong.  I know its possible to let the delivery go the a GW shop but since the only ones are in Vienna (meaning a travel to the city just for picking up the miniatures) this was only not a viable option if avoidance would be possible.

I thought that Castellans are somehow GW webshop exclusive since their original order from another shop got canceled with this explanation. However by coincidence I stumbled over this shop and could order my Castellans for a cheaper price and with lesser delivery costs =D So hopefully I will get hold of them before the year ends.

Wie ihr vielleicht schon gelesen habt, habe ich begonnen 40k zu spielen und dass es mir sehr gefällt. Ich habe sogar meinen neuen Modelle den Vorzug gegenüber meinen Ostlingen gegeben. Während ich also dabei war meine Kataphrone zu bemalen und mich durch all den neuen Stoff zu lesen, begann ich über die Unterschiede zwischen MESBG und 40k nachzudenken.  Dabei kam ich auf ein paar interessante Vergleiche und entschied, diese mit euch teilen zu wollen ;) Ich habe diese Beitrag in verschiedene Bereiche gegliedert und schreibe zu jedem etwas über beide Systeme. Rise of the Necromancer LL Review

The "Fall of the Necromancer" expansion from autumn 2021, saw four new LL releases. Two of them were hero-only LLs. One was the infamous "Vanquishers of the  Necromancer" - mixing up the tournament scene and stirring up quite a turmoil and discussions about how far a LL should go and if this is not the complete opposite of what the game stands for. While the other LLs (Rangers of Mirkwood and Pits of Dol Guldur) were frequently covered and discussed in podcasts, blogs, YT videos etc, the fourth one was notably absent from all this  or received only a fraction of the time- The Rise of the Necromancer LL. This one was actually the only LL and the only thing of the expansion I was interested in. I had my eyes already set on a Dol Guldur hero-only army for quite some time. And now I received the perfect LL for my needs.  I want to share with you my experience with this force and what I think about it in detail. MESBG VS 40k 10th Edition - First Experience

As you maybe read, I dipped my toes into the 40k system and really enjoyed it. I even prioritized painting my new miniatures over painting my Easterlings. It felt wrong at the beginning (after all I procrastinated my Easterling project already for a long time) but in the end, my motivation currently is with 40k and why not enjoy and go along with it? ;) I also joined multiple FB groups and Discord servers, dedicated to 40k and AdMech. And while painting my Kataphrons and reading through all the stuff, I started thinking about the differences between the system and playstyle of  MESBG and 40k. Some interesting comparisons came up and I thought it could be interesting to share my thoughts with you ;) I structured this post into different topics, where in each I will talk about both systems.
