Castellan of the Ring

Lately on the MESBG Discord server I frequently visit, there were some discussions and talks about older versions of our beloved system. I am kinda a hobby historian and I have always been fascinated about the past and development of things/systems over time. And therefore an idea started to take form, on how to combine these two things with each other on this blog. I would like to collect experiences and tales from veteran players and then bundle them together per eras, in order to allow a view back into the past. So my first question to my dear readers would be, how to best categorize the time periods/versions of MESBG? I know there was a White Dwarf article with details about that but I don't have it. It is quite some time ago since I last posted something about my Dol Guldur project. In fact it is already finished since quite some time. I simply did not mange to find time to do the photographs. Or rather learn how to do better pictures^^ But I finally did and want to share the results with you. In following you can see my Rise of the Necromancer LL army - all Nazgul, the Necromancer and three Castellans. Quite soon I will also share my review of this army, on wh ich I worked in parallell. Over the course of the last two weeks, it happened two times to me that I dropped miniatures while carrying them somewhere. Once at the Legendarium tournament and once at home. At the tournament it was a Davale Numenor warrior and at home it was a  Slayer of Men Dol Guldur Nazgul. Both times pieces broke off and I had to glue them together again.  This made me recall a topic I turned over in my head already for some time - which miniature materials do we encounter in our hobby and what are the advantages and disadvantages? It is some time ago I posted the last update on my Dol Guldur project. Slow painting progress, problems with finding good lighting for taking pictures etc all contributed to that. But now I finished the current batch of miniatures and was able to make some decent pictures. I took some tries but I was able to realize the color scheme I aimed for. The green for the clothes is the same on all of them. The Nazgul  and Castellans have blue/gold weapon handles and blades of metal with Biel-Tan green and Nuln Oil washes.  The armour on the Castellans and the Necromancer uses the same approach + dry brushing and adding highlights. The armour on the Nazgul is Nuln Oil with brown tones. Three Nazgul are still missing and I will try to paint them in one batch.  I am really happy with the results and they already have proven their prowess in battle ;) The Castellan keeps his watch and happy hobbying until the next time =)
