Castellan of the Ring

In den letzten zwei Wochen ist es mir zweimal passiert das Miniatur beim tragen hinunter gefallen sind. Beide Male sind Teile abgebrochen und ich musste sie wieder zusammen kleben. Dies wiederum hat mich an ein Thema erinnert welches ich schon länger im Kopf habe - Welche Materialien werden für unsere Miniaturen verwendet und welche Vor-/Nachteile haben sie? Erlaubt mir euch auf eine kleine Reise durch die Geschichte von Miniatur Materialien in MESBG zu nehmen. Zudem welche wir aktuell haben, was die Vor-/Nachteile sind meine was meine persönliche Erfahrung und Präferenzen sind =) Übrigens: Im Voraus schon danke an alle die mich mit Hintergrundinformationen und anderem Input versorgt haben! Ich werde mich durch die Materialien durcharbeiten und dabei immer diese Reihenfolge beibehalten: Vergangenheit, Gegenwart, Vor-/Nachteile und meine Meinung. Over the course of the last two weeks, it happened two times to me that I dropped miniatures while carrying them somewhere. Once at the Legendarium tournament and once at home. At the tournament it was a Davale Numenor warrior and at home it was a  Slayer of Men Dol Guldur Nazgul. Both times pieces broke off and I had to glue them together again.  This made me recall a topic I turned over in my head already for some time - which miniature materials do we encounter in our hobby and what are the advantages and disadvantages? Allow me to take you on a small tour through the history of miniature materials in MESBG, what we currently have, what the supposedly pros and cons are and my personal experience and preferences =) Btw: Thanks in advance to all people who fueled me with background information and other input while writing this post! I did not note down the exact day but around January 2021 I started to actively collect, paint and play MESBG after a prelude beginning in December 2020, when I actually bought the starter box for my girlfriend. A lot has happened since then and I thought it would be a good opportunity to write down all the positive experiences and developments I was able to have through this wonderful hobby =) One year of MESBG Reclaiming  enthusiasm for an old friend I read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings as a teenager, right after seeing the first movie in cinema. Diesen Herbst ist es endlich soweit: Die Hochglanz HDR Serie von Amazon wird veröffentlicht. Aber unabhängig davon ob diese Serie gut (ich habe meine Befürchtungen aber versuche optimistisch zu bleiben) oder schlecht wird, sie könnte einen großen Batzen an neuen Inhalten und Veränderungen für MESBG bedeuten. Oder etwa nicht? Ich habe in letzter Zeit etwas darüber nachgedacht und festgestellt, dass die Dinge möglicherweise nicht so einfach sind wie sie scheinen. Wird Gamesworkshop eine Kooperation mit Amazon abschließen? Zuerst müsste GW natürlich einmal ein Interesse daran haben eine Lizenz von Amazon zu erwerben um deren Material für MESBG verwerten zu können. Ihr mögt jetzt sagen - wie kann ich das überhaupt in Frage stellen? Potential für viele neue Miniaturen, Kampagnen, Erweiterungen etc - die vielen Euro-Zeichen für GW zeichnen sich geradezu ab über solch einem Deal. This fall the day finally comes: The big budget LOTR show from Amazon will be released. Regardless of the show being good (i have my fears but I try to stay optimistic) or not, it could mean big releases and changes for MESBG. Or does it? I spent some time thinking about it and realized, things might not be so easy as they seem. Will Gamesworkshop strike a deal with Amazon? Firstly it would of course require that GW has actually an interest to buy a license from Amazon to be able to use the material for MESBG.  Now you might say - how can I even question this? Potential for a lot of new miniatures, campaigns, expansions etc - the possible Euro signs for GW are written all over a deal with Amazon. And I agree - it is quite unlikely that they won't even try. There is however one reason I thought of, why GW might not have any interest: GW in the beginning of the system, was hardly limited in what they could release, by what the movies showed. Seit dem ersten HDR Film aus 2001, existiert unser geliebtes Tabletop Spielsystem und hat eine Menge Änderungen erlebt. Mit jedem neuen Film wurden die Regeln und Miniaturen erweitert. Nach kleineren Erweiterungen, gab es schließlich das "Eine" Regelbuch. Später erhielt auch jeder Hobbit Film neue Dinge. Und letztlich mit 2018, erschienen die bis heute geltenden Regeln. Erst letztes Jahr konnten wir das 20. jährige Jubiläum von MESBG feiern. Trotz dieser langen Zeit und so vielen Änderungen, blieben manche Dinge unverändert oder sahen lediglich eine Evolution. Selbst heute noch, werden Miniaturen aus der Anfangszeit verkauft und können ohne Einschränkung verwendet werden. Etwas das heutzutage nicht selbstverständlich ist. Aber über die Laufzeit des Systems, sind auch ein paar kleinere bis größere Kuriositäten entstanden.
