Castellan of the Ring

As you maybe read, I dipped my toes into the 40k system and really enjoyed it. I even prioritized painting my new miniatures over painting my Easterlings. It felt wrong at the beginning (after all I procrastinated my Easterling project already for a long time) but in the end, my motivation currently is with 40k and why not enjoy and go along with it? ;) I also joined multiple FB groups and Discord servers, dedicated to 40k and AdMech. And while painting my Kataphrons and reading through all the stuff, I started thinking about the differences between the system and playstyle of  MESBG and 40k. Some interesting comparisons came up and I thought it could be interesting to share my thoughts with you ;) I structured this post into different topics, where in each I will talk about both systems. Es ist vollbracht - meine ersten 40k Modelle sind fertig! =D Ich habe mich für die Kataphron Zerstörer entschieden als erstes entschieden, weil sie relativ simpel + größer sind als die Skitarri und weniger Details haben als der Dominus. Es wir wirklich eine Freude sie zusammen zu bauen und zu bemalen. Um einen guten Kontrast zu schaffen, habe ich mich abermals entschieden, Schnee-Basing für meine Armee zu machen. Ich bin super glücklich mit dem Ergebnis und haben auch schon positives Feedback erhalten. Viel Spaß mit den Bildern ;) Der Kastellan hält seine Wache und fröhliche Hobbyzeit bis zum nächsten Mal =)

It is done - my first 40k miniatures are finished! =D I chose the Kataphron Destroyers as my first ones because they seemed relatively simple to do and where bigger than the Scitarri and not so detailed as the Dominus. It was really a joy to assemble and paint them up. Planning to have a good contrast, I again chose to do snow bases and will stick to it for my AdMech project. I am super happy with the results and received already positive feedback. Enjoy the images ;) The Castellan keeps his watch and happy hobbying until the next time =)

  Intro Heute ist ein besonderer Tag. Zum ersten Mal, werde ich hier nicht über MESBG schreiben. Heute geht es um meine ersten Schritte in Warhammer 40.000. Seit längerem, versuchte schon ein Freund mich dazu zu bringen, in 40k einzusteigen. Und obwohl ich die Lore und das Universum schon immer faszinierend fand (und die Modelle mag),  habe ich immer abgelehnt. Ein Limit an Zeit und verfügbarem Geld, hindert mich schon daran in MESBG, alles auszuprobieren was mich interessiert.  Bei einem Treffen und Plausch im Mai mit mehreren anderen 40k Spielern, gab es eine lange und ausführliche Diskussion über 40k Lore und das System und ich war schon am Haken. Wieder und wieder besuchte ich den GW Shop und sah mir die Modelle an. Da ich außerdem erfuhr, dass quasi eine neue Edition am Start ist, habe ich auch alles Neuigkeiten darüber verfolgt.  Und oh Mann, war dass einen extrem andere Erfahrung als bei MESBG. Intro Today marks a special day. For the first time, I will not write something about MESBG on this blog. Today it is about my first steps into 40k. Since a longer time, a friend tried to convince me into playing 40k. Even though the lore and universe fascinated me + the models are great - I always declined due to a limit of time and money available, which already hindered me in doing what I wanted, in MESBG. But after meeting up in May and having a very long discussion/talk with multiple people about 40k lore and stories about the system, the hook caught me. Again and again did I visit the GW page and looked through models.  Since the people also told me about a new edition already on the doorsteps, I started following every news and release that was made by GW.  And oh boy was that a vastly different experience from MESBG. Diesmal gibt es nur ein kleines Bemal-Update. Ich hab Khamul zu Fuß und auf Pferd, fertig gestellt. Es war sehr entspannend, mal wieder ein Model zu bemalen, welches etwas einfacher ist. Ich schaffte es meinem Bemal-Schema treu zu bleiben. Ebenso meinem Tundra Thema beim Basing. Im folgenden die Bilder: Als nächstes nehme ich in Angriff, was ich schon lange vor mir her schiebe: den Hauptteil meiner Ostling Streitmacht.   This time only a small painting update. I finished Khamul on foot and horse. It was very relaxing to paint a bit easier model without that many details. I was able to keep up the lookup of my desired color scheme as well as my Tundra basing. Here the  images to enjoy ;) Next up is what i postponed for a longer time: Working on the main bulk of the Easterling force. The Castellan keeps his watch and happy hobbying until the next time =)

  Intro Ich durfte den lieben Sebastian von die Wulpertinger besuchen und zwei sehr spannende und intensive Spiele gegen ihn bestreiten. Hier durfte mein Nekromant - wieder einmal^^ - gegen die Toten von Dunharg in ihrer LL antreten. "Lords of Battle" wurde als Szenario gewählt, 700 Punkte waren die Größe und wir spielten auf einer wunderbaren Dol Guldur Platte. Diesmal gibt es auch eine Premiere - da Sebastian unser Spiel auf Video gebannt hat, erspare ich mir nicht nur einen Text zu schreiben, sondern ihr könnt unser Spiel gemütlich ansehen und mit fiebern! =D Fazit Mein erstes "Nicht-Turnier" Spiel gegen Sebastian. Und es lief besser für mich ;) Es war spannend bis zum Schluss und trotz sehr unterschiedlicher Armeen, sehr ausgeglichen. Wir konnten beide unsere Stärken ausspielen - stets wiederkehrende Nazgul, welche von einem Sturm aus Magie des Nekromanten unterstützt wurden, gegen eine zähe Masse an Kriegern und einem mächtigen Aragorn.  Less then a week to go till the Warhammerfest, where MESBG officially has a slot for announcements! There were no whatsoever official clues what the news will be - if its the long awaited info about the next expansion or just some smaller stuff like non-connected miniature releases. But I am hyped and motivated AND I think we will hear about the "Last Alliance" as the next expansion ;) I already had some thoughts about the content of such an expansion and thought about a possible extension of the Numenor faction. But since then, I learned a lot and played even more often. I feel more experienced and a bit more grounded regarding new profiles. So I set down and worked on some profiles I would like to see + their values, costs and usage.
